Many remember the stories of Daniel in the Lion’s Den or his three friends in the fiery furnace. Perhaps we remember them as flannel graph stories in our Bible classes as children. Though those stories had a powerful impact on some of us as children, they are more profound than we could have imagined at that time.
Daniel’s message addresses how servants of Yahweh faithfully live in the context of a hostile political power. How do faithful servants bear witness to the reign of God surrounded by the intrigues of imperial power?
That is one message, and another is about the coming reign of God that will uproot all hostile political powers. Many are intrigued by the prophecies in Daniel and how they might apply to our contemporary world. Daniel 2, 7, 9 and 11 are the focus of intense debate in many Christian communities.
In this series, we will focus the political and prophetic dimensions of Daniel’s message. How might the stories of Daniel and his prophecies form us and equip us as servants of King Jesus today?
I will post the Zoom sessions on the blog and link to my Facebook page as well.
