Psalm 130 – Derek: Meditating on the Way
This is one of the church’s penitential Psalms, and it is one of the songs of Ascent in the Psalter. It is Israel’s confession of sin as the community approaches the temple to receive the priestly blessing based on God’s forgiveness and mercy/grace/love (hesed). Out of the depths, Israel cries for mercy and waits for the morning to dawn in God’s gracious forgiveness.
This is a prayer for everyone: confession, hope, and forgiveness. Our God is not one who watches us like a hawk for every little slip. Rather, our God is one who forgives and loves with mercy to rescue (redeem) us so that we might live in grateful awe of what the Lord has done for us.

John Mark and Bobby,
This is another one of the Psalms I have memorized,
And recite many times a day and even when I have a hard time
Sleeping at night.
It is so so beautiful (so deep)and I really enjoyed all you all had to say about.
I do a breath prayer when I recite it – Deep calls to Deep
(Me calling on God and God calling on me)
What a joy it is to feel the Hesed of the LORD.
Thank you both for sharing your love wisdom and knowledge of the Psalms looking forward to Listening to the others (especially 63 , 90. 139 and well all the rest
Blessing and Peace to you both
Nancy
