Psalm 33 – Derek: Meditating on the Way

The worshipping assembly of Israel proclaims that they do not trust in military power or national agendas. Instead, it lives by faith in the steadfast love of the Lord.

The praise of God on the lips and instruments of God’s people is lovely, fitting, and awesome. Not because of who we are but because of who God is and what God does.

Yahweh is righteousness and fills the earth with steadfast love. God created the world, frustrates the plans of the nations, chose Israel as God’s own possession, and fashions the hearts of people. God is no passive agent but is involved in human history.

Therefore, we wait on the Lord, and pray, “Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.”
