Psalm 41 – Derek: Meditating on the Way
Who is favored or “happy”? Psalm 41 teaches it is the one who considers the poor and lives with integrity despite their own failings.
Such people are assaulted by enemies, particularly cosmic powers, whom God will defeat. Yahweh is gracious and raises the Psalmist from a deathbed to renewed life.
Jesus quotes this Psalm at the Last Supper in reference to Judas. Though it names the reality of cosmic enemies, it also teaches that Yahweh will show favor and cause those who walk in the way with integrity to stand in God’s presence forever.
