Did Women “Preach” in the New Testament?

I was invited to visit the Highland Oaks Church of Christ in Dallas, Texas, but due to COVID I could not. I was diagnosed the day I was supposed to get on the plane to fly to Dallas. Consequently, I addressed the church through Zoom on the topic while experiencing some of the effects of COVID.

I suggest that prophecy in Israel and the church parallel the function of “preaching” in the contemporary church.

This video was part of a series by multiple speakers at the Highland Oaks Church of Christ. All the videos are available here.

Do you recall ever going to https://lhhouston.church/ministries/? Even though I’ve just recently started going to this Houston ministry, I have to say that I’ve been having a great time participating in the events and in-person worship. Even though I’ve never been a frequent churchgoer, I just found this site to be interesting, and it has since immensely inspired me.

Thank you for your insights on women prophets and preaching. I did search to see if you have written or spoken on the ceasing of prophecy in 1 Corinthians 13. I could not find anything. Have you published anything on it that is accessible?

I have not published anything on cessationism since the 1970s and 1980s. It is not a topic I have focused my attention upon. I generally think of myself as a “open but cautious.” I have no doubt God can so act and probably does so act, though I emphasize discernment in my encounters with such.

I suppose I should say that I don’t think 1 Corinthians 13 necessarily means that these gifts will cease before the second coming of Jesus or the arrival of the eschaton.
